Ionuț Șerban (31 years old) and Virgil Neculăescu (53 years old) are from Dâmbovița County and form a 15-year-old pigeon fancier tandem. They have pigeons from most famous breeders from abroad, but also from the country, from Chicheanu & Rusu and Stănescu & Dobre to Fredy Vandenheede, the Freialdenhofen Family and Delrue Vambruaene. They have won numerous awards and trophies, including the titles of Master and Master Emeritus, offered by the Union of Professional Pigeon Fellows in Romania. This year they discovered Beyers' products, tested the pigeons in their farm, and the result made them say "we recommend Beyers with confidence". Why? What improvements they have noticed, what awards they have won this year and what expectations they have from next year, read in the following lines.

Ionut, when did your passion for pigeons start?

I have been a pigeon fancier member since 2003, and Virgil since 1980. He is older in pigeon fancier sport, being a national champion since the 2000s. of. From the very beginning, the main target was the national podium, and after four years, we managed to produce the first national champion, more precisely in 2014. It is about the pigeon 56111-13, the national champion at the Yearling Speed ​​Awards. And also in 2014 we managed to become the Masters of pigeon sport UCPR-ist. The following years were really formidable from a sports point of view, because we won a lot of competitions in the 100-750 km category and we obtained many beautiful results at national level.

How many pigeons do you have in the farm now and in what flight categories do you participate?

We have a herd of about 300 pigeons, 150 breeders and almost 150 fliers. We have them from almost all the Western champions: Marc De Cock, Fredy Vandenheede, Freialdenhofen Family, Delrue Vambruaene, Etien Devos, HP Brockamp, ​​Gebr Hagens, Jung Jumpid, Toni Deigner, Peter Groothest, Jack Steketee, Werner Böltyng, Kipp and Son, Marcel Aelbrecht etc, but also pigeons from Romania, from Chicheanu & Rusu and Stănescu & Dobre. We participate in all flight categories, starting with Speed ​​and ending with the Marathon, but in recent years we have focused on the category 500-800 km.

What game system do you use?

Widowhood, because I personally think it's a simpler method and does not require much time to prepare pigeons. We practice widowhood with both sexes, we participate with males, but also with females. Due to the large number of flyers (about 150), we lack private training from the pigeon training program, sometimes we go with them on Wednesdays, at 70 km, but we prefer training around the farm. Thus, our pigeons fly at least 1 hour a day, during the program, the females in the morning, at 6:00, and the males, in the evening after 18:00.

What are the most important prizes won so far?

Certainly, the most coveted trophies I got, obviously through a lot of work, were the Master and Emeritus Master plaques in 2016.

How was the 2018 competitive year for you?

The most fantastic competitive season since 2009. A year of sensation, we say. The pigeons behaved exemplary, always ranking in the top 10 pigeons on the entire launch of about 20,000 pigeons, and in the Breeder category, we ranked three times on the 1st place on the launch and once on the 2nd place in about 1500 breeders, which cover five counties: Dâmbovița, Prahova, Argeș, Ilfov, Giurgiu. We are part of one of the strongest flying areas in the country, namely Dâmbovița, and we have as opponents multiple national champions such as Marius Andrei, Adrian Dobrescu, Hamza Valeri, Carstea Sorin, Deftu Brothers, Paul Noragiu, Cosmin Furnică. 2018 is the year in which we used Beyers products in full for the first time.

Speaking of Beyers, what do you think of these products? Have you noticed any improvement in your pigeons since you used them?

Yes, I noticed many improvements, because last year, in 2017, we had a difficult season due to the fact that there are many counterfeit products on the Romanian market. We had the misfortune to feed our pigeons with food from a famous company, we do not give it its name, food that turned out to be very poor in terms of quality. I noticed this at stage 10 of the 15 stages of the season. In 2018 it was for the first time when I used Beyers food, from each assortment two bags, but also some of the Beyers conditioning products. Upon arrival from the competition, the pigeons receive Electrolit Plus from Beyers and in the evening, on food, they receive RECOVERY PLUS. Obviously, we want to stay high at the top of the pyramid. We are aware that pigeon sport evolves with everyday life, but we do not let ourselves be outdone either. A challenge will be represented by Columbodroame, which from 2019 will become, as in the championship, a clear objective: LET'S WIN!
