Information about the pigeon fancier - Vasile CORDEANU

I am from Vaslui and I started the pigeons races in 2009. I could've start to compete earlier, because I had pigeons in the loft back home since I was 8. A long periode of my life I've been busy with the school and the college and I didn't pay a lot of attention to the pigeons, but since 2009 I seriously started to compete. The pigeons I started to race grew up here, in my village, and I had them from a teacher that also had them from mr. Oslihgher Roland, from Iași. He competed at marathons in 1980 with his pigeons and he became famous. In 2009, I had left only 60 pigeons and I raced them all, but only 4 full brothers. From those brothers I had a 5 National Place in 2010. His niece is the champion pigeon from this year - 1st National Ace Pigeon Marathon, 3 years.

What victories did you have in 2017?

At National competitions, I won, with the pigeon 0101410 from 2012, a 1st National Ace Pigeon Marathon - this is the best pigeon from Romania, at marathon races. With the same pigeon I had a 1st Place Ace Marathon 4 years in Moldavia and a 1st Place Extreme Marathon, also in Moldavia. She won 3 races. At this moment, in the history of Romania, it happened to be just once a similar case - mr. Cobzaru had the same performance, with his pigeon 059 that was also a winner; he has the same succes, but he has 1st Place in National Olympics in 2015 - from a total of 4 marathons.

Excepting your own line of pigeons, did you also buy original ones from other fanciers?

Yes, I did buy one or two from all the big fanciers from Romania - only from the champions.

Didn't you bring pigeons from abroad?

I did - for the first time, in 2009, from Natural. I took once 4 youngsters and they were flying so bad - they were flying only since they were out of country, so I didn't keep them anymore. They kept me, instead, behind with two years. I lost two years of my fancier life with those pigeons  - they were a failure for me! Them in 2011, I bought a champion mother from mr. Buțucanu and also a male. In 2012 I bought also pigeons from the champions of Lazăr Paraschiv - a daughter and a brother, from extreme marathon races. So, lately, I bought pigeons only from romanian champions - from Preda Gheorghe, from Asmarandei Florentin, from Dorneanu...

How many pigeons did you have in your flying lot, in this season?

I finished the season with 20 pigeons, but I started flying 35. From 20, the majority have norms. 5 of tgem are Ace Marathons - they only won Extreme Marathons.

What kind of flying method do you have?

I practiced, in 2015, total widowhood - I kept the pigeons separated for all the year; instead, they were having results, but they were not occupying the main places. Before 2015, and also after 2015, I practied only the natural method. My marathons are raced only natural. The pigeons are paird at the beggining of April, they have a squab, they raise it, then there are sepparated a month when they have to race, they are naturally paired again and then they are free to fly at marathons.

Do you have a special training for your pigeons, before the big races?

Yes, it depends - this year I had them paired yearlier; I wanted to race them by following the Menne method and I kept them in a good shape. I always carried them with me wherever I had some work to do. Recently, I also lost a really loved pigeon - 4 years Marathon - 14500 km raced, he won 18 races from 20. I lost him once when I was racing them for a training in Iași - he was brother with my champion. They offered me for him even 2000 Euros but I always refused the offers. I don't have a lot of pigeons - I have 6 old pigeons in my loft, 20 youngsters and the rest of them are the once from my flying lot. I am always careful when I have to chose them.

We know you are using BEYERS; can you tell us since how long?

Yes, I really do use BEYERS - I discovered it last year. I bought food and products. I can tell I have Electrolit Plus, Condition Plus and that is it - I do not use a lot of products, but a few of them, that are really good. I keep my pigeons natural, because I want them to resist and I do not really use meds. When it comes about food, I noticed many more changes since last year, until today. What I really liked from BERES is: Spor Energy combined with Long Distance. It is really good, I love it, and I would never trade it for anything in the world - it makes my pigeons perfect for marathons. In Vaslui, I have marathons with 1100 - 3 marathons, one of 1050, two of 1125 km. First time, my pigeons raced 600 km, directly from 200 km - so, 600 km, then 815, them 1050 km and then two of 1125 km. So they needed their maximum supply of energy - that is why I use Energy from BEYERS. There is nothing left after the race is over.

What are the effects of the food, that you noticed in time?

When the pigeon gets older, the food starts to help him. At races, you are not expecting him to be the 3rd place from a total of 7000 pigeons, or a 1st place from a 2000 at a regional race - he will be somewhere in the middle, not like when he was younger. He will keep his level, because he is gonna keep his shape - if he is healthy and if you feed him well. The 1st place in a competition can be won by a pigeons that has no brains, but many 5 or 10 places are won by a really smart pigeon. I noticed huge differences after I started to feed them BEYERES food. I combined Energy and Long Distance, because it has red cord; I have nothing to hide. The middle race is the one that has the biggest distance and I told myself that I need especially for that rec corn from Long Distance and Energy. This year, I gave to my pigeons only BEYERS food - I had 5 packs and it was enough for all the season - three whole months. It was excellent - I saw their energy and I was very grateful!
